Professional Flooring and Fitting & Supply in Kent
Kent features an extensive mix of heritage housing, from Victorian and Edwardian townhouses in Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks to period cottages in Speldhurst, Rusthall, and Langton Green, alongside newer residential extensions throughout Tonbridge and Maidstone. Luxury Vinyl Tile is impervious to moisture and hard-wearing, but because planks are only 2mm to 5mm thick, subfloor preparation is the single deciding factor in the lifespan of the floor. In older Kent properties, suspended timber floorboards frequently suffer from seasonal warping, wide expansion gaps, and squeaks. We screw down loose timbers and fit 6mm flooring-grade plywood overlays (BS 8203:2017 Annex A compliant) fixed on a 100mm to 150mm perimeter grid. Where modern ground-floor extensions join older subfloors, concrete bases are moisture-tested with a digital hygrometer, sealed with an epoxy DPM if dampness is detected, and smoothed with latex screeding.
Fitting Luxury Vinyl Tiles in Kent character homes often requires balancing floor heights at doorway thresholds with adjacent stone, tile, or carpeted rooms. Rigid-core click-lock planks with integrated underlays float freely over flat subfloors, offering a fast installation method that accommodates subtle seasonal building movement in upper rooms. For kitchens, busy hallways, and open-plan dining extensions, fully adhered glue-down LVT provides the lowest threshold profile, total stability under heavy furniture, and maximum heat transfer over underfloor heating. It also allows custom pattern crafting, including traditional double-plank herringbone, chevron patterns, and perimeter border lines that accentuate the architectural charm of West Kent homes.
